Da Nang is well known for its Vietnamese cuisine and diverse international food scene, but there are days when you simply crave a hearty bowl of authentic Japanese ramen. When that craving hits, one place I highly recommend is Yushoken Ramen, located in the popular An Thuong area. Well-known among Japanese residents, Yushoken has built a reputation for serving flavorful and satisfying ramen. The restaurant is popular not only with Japanese expats but also with Korean residents and Western visitors. On this visit, I tried one of their signature dishes: Ajitama Rich Tonkotsu Ramen (Shoyu).
Location
Yushoken is located in Da Nang’s An Thuong area, just a short distance from My Khe Beach. The neighborhood is filled with cafes, restaurants, and hotels, making it a popular destination for both tourists and expatriates.
Getting there by Grab is easy and convenient, making it a great choice for lunch during sightseeing or dinner after a relaxing day at the beach. Although the area is lively and busy, the restaurant maintains a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to stop by anytime.
Exterior
The exterior has the familiar look of a traditional Japanese ramen shop.
Its red and black signage stands out clearly, making the restaurant easy to spot from a distance. While not overly flashy, it has a strong presence and instantly lets you know that authentic ramen awaits inside.
At night, the illuminated sign creates an even more inviting atmosphere, drawing in hungry diners looking for a comforting meal.

Interior
Inside, the restaurant features a simple and clean design with warm wooden accents throughout.
The layout is centered around table seating, making it ideal for groups and families. There are also counter seats available, which makes it a comfortable option for solo diners as well.
The restaurant has the energetic atmosphere you’d expect from a Japanese ramen shop while still providing a relaxed environment where guests can enjoy their meal. The staff are efficient and attentive, and the ordering process is smooth from start to finish.

Food
Ajitama Rich Tonkotsu Ramen (Shoyu)
The moment the bowl arrived, the rich-looking broth immediately caught my attention.
A glossy layer of oil covered the surface, hinting at the deep pork-bone flavor packed into the soup. The bowl was beautifully topped with a seasoned soft-boiled egg, slices of chashu pork, spinach, and other ingredients that made it look incredibly appetizing.
Taking the first sip, I was impressed by the depth of the tonkotsu broth. The rich pork flavor is balanced perfectly by the sharpness of the soy sauce, creating a satisfying combination that never feels overwhelmingly heavy.
The broth is creamy and full-bodied, yet surprisingly clean on the finish. It’s the kind of soup that keeps you reaching for another spoonful.
The medium-thin noodles pair exceptionally well with the broth, offering a pleasant chew and excellent texture. The chashu pork is tender and flavorful, releasing its savory juices with every bite.
The seasoned egg is cooked to perfection, with a rich, runny yolk that complements the soup beautifully.
Overall, it is a highly satisfying bowl that comes remarkably close to the quality and flavor of ramen you would expect to find in Japan.

Final thoughts
Yushoken is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic tonkotsu ramen in Da Nang.
The Ajitama Rich Tonkotsu Ramen (Shoyu) is particularly recommended for those who appreciate bold, rich flavors and a satisfying bowl of ramen. It’s also a great option when you need a break from Vietnamese cuisine and want a comforting taste of Japan.
