Japanese Soba in Da Nang – Comforting Tempura Soba at MARUTEN SUSHI-SOBA

Food

Living in Da Nang means constantly enjoying delicious Vietnamese cuisine, but every now and then, I start craving the comforting flavors of Japanese food. Whenever that happens, one of the places I rely on is MARUTEN SUSHI-SOBA. With sushi, soba, tempura, and many familiar Japanese dishes on the menu, it’s the kind of restaurant that quickly becomes a favorite among Japanese expats living in the city.

Location

MARUTEN SUSHI-SOBA is conveniently located in central Da Nang, making it easily accessible for both tourists and expats. A short Grab ride will get you there quickly, which makes it perfect for after-work dinners or relaxed weekend lunches.

Exterior

The restaurant has a simple and clean exterior with a wooden sign displaying the name “MARUTEN,” creating an unmistakably Japanese atmosphere. Since it’s located along a main street, it’s also easy to find even for first-time visitors.

Interior

Inside, the restaurant features a calm Japanese-modern design with a relaxing atmosphere. There are both table seats and counter seats available, making it comfortable whether you’re dining alone or visiting with friends or family.

The restaurant is well maintained and clean, and the staff are polite and attentive, creating a reassuring dining experience. Another major plus for Japanese visitors is that some staff members can speak Japanese, making ordering much easier and stress-free.

This time, I ordered the Tempura Soba.

The crispy shrimp tempura and seasonal vegetable tempura immediately looked appetizing the moment the bowl arrived. Paired with the warm, flavorful dashi broth, the dish felt incredibly comforting from the very first bite.

The soba noodles had just the right texture and firmness, surprisingly close to what you would expect in Japan. For a moment, I genuinely forgot I was eating in Da Nang.

After a long workday, this kind of meal feels deeply relaxing — the sort of comforting Japanese food that refreshes both body and mind.

Final thoughts

Living abroad makes you realize how important familiar food can be. MARUTEN SUSHI-SOBA is one of those dependable places in Da Nang where Japanese residents can enjoy authentic, comforting flavors whenever homesickness hits.

From sushi to soba and tempura, the menu offers a wide range of familiar dishes that make the restaurant popular not only among expats but also travelers looking for quality Japanese food in Da Nang.
